Hicksville

This hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay is home to the last Long Island Railroad station before branching to all points east. The station once served as a depot for produce, used largely by Heinz. Later, the neighborhood saw a steady boom after World War II, becoming essentially a New York City suburb and making way for several manufacturers. Today, Hicksville is the proud home base for many known businesses, including Sleepy’s mattress retailers and National Grid’s KeySpan Energy division.
