Director Woody Allen reportedly had to spruce it up to depict the look of a 1930’s depression town for his movie, “The Purple Rose of Cairo”. The former scruffy mill town is a mere memory these days, long gone after many years of gentrification, appealing more to a hip crowd of former Manhattanites. Nowadays you’ll find an abundance of upscale restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, and $1 million condos. Homes such as this 19th century Piermont original are hard to find. Especially with its many original features including a carved, curving main staircase, plus a second servant's back staircase. Three fireplaces, one with a superb carved mantle.
