Greenlawn

Greenlawn is a hamlet located in the Township of Huntington. Orignally known as Old Fields, however, with the entrance of the LIRR in town, its name was changed to project an idyllic rural/suburban image and to foster resort travel to the beaches in Centerport. Greenlawn was well known for its pickle production during the 19th century, a pastime still celebrated today in the annual Pickle Festival. The Greenlawn Fire Department hosts is the oldest Fireman’s Fair in New York State.
